As a vital part of the company’s global trade compliance operations, the International Trade Compliance – Global Process Expert plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate and efficient execution of day-to-day compliance activities that support cross-border movements worldwide. This role is essential in maintaining data integrity, resolving transactional issues, and enabling smooth global shipping operations through close adherence to international trade regulations.
This hands-on, desk-based position operates at the heart of the company’s trade compliance program. Supporting global import and export processes, the role works across regions to validate compliance attributes, resolve system blocks, and execute high-risk transactional steps—all while partnering with logistics, master data, and compliance teams to uphold accuracy and operational continuity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and resolve trade compliance blocks in SAP GTS to ensure timely processing of sales and purchase orders.
- Ensure the accuracy of compliance master data (HTS, ECCN, COO, SPL) used in import/export declarations.
- Execute high-risk transactional tasks such as license checks, screening, and export control classification in line with internal playbooks.
- Adhere to SOPs to maintain traceability and audit readiness for all trade transactions.
- Perform quality control checks and address data discrepancies in coordination with Master Data and Logistics teams.
- Escalate unresolved or high-risk compliance issues according to established protocols.
- Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) by validating trade compliance data in SAP GTS.
- Stay current on compliance rules, system updates, and internal procedures through ongoing training.
- Collaborate with IT to support testing and implementation of trade compliance system updates.
- For Brazil: act as the local ITC specialist, handling transactional compliance, documentation, and issue resolution when local staff are unavailable, while coordinating closely with the Americas ITC lead.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in International Trade, Law, Logistics, Business, or related field
- 5-8 years of experience in Trade Compliance
Preferred Skills & Attributes:
- Familiarity with WCO HTS classification, ECCN, COO rules, and SPL screening
- Strong attention to detail, operational discipline, and ability to follow standardized instructions precisely and support with the continuous improvement of our internal processes and standards
- Fluent in English; Spanish/Portuguese are a plus
