As a key part of the company’s broader trade compliance transformation, the Senior Manager, International Trade Compliance – APAC will lead the development and execution of international trade strategies across the Asia-Pacific region. The position is essential in maintaining robust compliance with regional trade laws, ensuring efficient cross-border operations, and enhancing internal controls and processes.
This senior-level role reports to the Group Director of Compliance within the global legal and compliance function and partners closely with supply chain, R&D, regulatory affairs, and commercial teams. It offers the chance to work at the intersection of regulatory integrity and operational excellence, in a role that blends leadership, strategic oversight, and hands-on execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure smooth cross-border operationsby managing daily import/export movements and resolving clearance issues with customs brokers.
- Oversee trade documentationincluding licences, permits, manual invoices, and classification data (HTS, ECCN, SPL, CoO).
- Monitor trade-related financialssuch as duties, VAT, and indirect taxes, ensuring cost control and accuracy.
- Act as the primary local contactfor customs and trade compliance authorities.
- Maintain accurate recordsof all import/export activities and assess customs brokers’ performance monthly.
- Interpret and apply China’s trade regulationswhile ensuring timely updates and compliance across internal teams.
- Support trade audits and regulatory inquiries, managing CAPAs and collaborating on strategic projects with the APAC ITC Lead.
- Develop and implement local SOPsaligned with global trade compliance policies and support internal control assessments.
- Assist in driving compliance culture, delivering training and engaging local stakeholders through the ITC Advocate Network.
- Support regional compliance leadershipby reporting on compliance issues and contributing to program development and continuous improvement.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Law, or related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in global trade compliance, preferably in the life sciences, medical device, or manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of China import/export regulations and tariff regimes.
- Fluent Mandarin
