Senior Attorney (US & LATAM)

A leading Life Sciences business with operations across the US, LATAM, and Europe are seeking an experienced Senior Attorney to join the legal team based in Charlotte, NC. As Senior Attorney, you will play a crucial role in providing legal support to the global Life business, with a primary focus on commercial and intellectual property (IP) matters. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to contribute to data privacy and employment law issues as they arise. This position covers the US and LATAM regions and reports directly to the Group Legal Director based in Germany. The ideal candidate will have a strong legal background, including at least 7 years of post-qualification experience, with a portion gained in-house.

Responsibilities:

Commercial and IP:
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including sales and distribution agreements, licensing agreements, and manufacturing agreements.
  • Provide legal advice and support on intellectual property matters, including patent licensing.
Data Privacy and Employment Law:
  • Assist in addressing data privacy issues, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations across US and LATAM.
  • Provide guidance on employment law matters, including employment contracts, terminations, and workplace policies.
Regulatory Compliance:
  • Stay abreast of regulatory developments in the US and LATAM regions.
  • Advise the business on compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including FDA regulations.
Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including business leaders, R&D teams, and regulatory affairs.
  • Liaise with external counsel as needed and represent the company in negotiations and legal proceedings.


Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to a State Bar in the US.
  • Minimum of 7* years of post-qualification experience, with at least 3 years spent in an in-house legal role (PQE is given as a guide only, candidates with relevant transferable experience will be considered.)
  • Strong experience in commercial and IP legal matters, preferably within the Life Sciences industry or a related sector (Regulated FMCG, Chemicals)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, global environment.
