As a key part of the company’s broader trade compliance transformation, the Senior Manager, International Trade Compliance – APAC will lead the development and execution of international trade strategies across the Asia-Pacific region. The position is essential in maintaining robust compliance with regional trade laws, ensuring efficient cross-border operations, and enhancing internal controls and processes.
This senior-level role reports to the Group Director of Compliance within the global legal and compliance function and partners closely with supply chain, R&D, regulatory affairs, and commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee APAC trade compliance, ensuring adherence to regional import/export laws, including classification, valuation, origin, and export controls.
- Monitor regulatory developments across key APAC countries and communicate changes to relevant stakeholders.
- Lead audit readiness, regulatory response efforts, and implementation of corrective/preventive action plans (CAPAs).
- Develop and maintain regional SOPs aligned with the global trade compliance framework.
- Support the global compliance team in managing and enhancing the Group Trade Compliance Program.
- Conduct internal controls, self-assessments, and audits to ensure compliance integrity.
- Deliver training programs and foster a culture of compliance through the APAC ITC Advocate Network.
- Ensure operational continuity in trade activities, including backup support and oversight of manual/non-SAP transactions.
- Collaborate with brokers and logistics partners to ensure compliant and efficient cross-border movement.
- Drive value through duty savings initiatives, broker performance management, and cross-functional collaboration on compliance-critical processes.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in international trade compliance, ideally in regulated or manufacturing industries.
- Advanced degree in International Trade, Law, Business, or a related field; specialization in customs, export controls, or regulatory compliance is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of APAC regulatory frameworks, including China’s GACC, Japan’s METI, and ASEAN trade agreements.
- Working knowledge of US export controls (e.g., EAR) and their impact on global operations.
- Ability to translate complex legal requirements into operational processes and practical guidance.
- Experience collaborating across departments and leading regional teams.
- Proficiency in Mandarin is a plus, though it is not required.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and project leadership skills.
