Leonid Group is privileged to be retained by a packaging company to appoint a Sr. Director, Global Ethics & Compliance based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Reporting to the Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, the Sr. Director, Global Ethics & Compliance is accountable for the entire company's Ethics & Compliance Program. The role serves as a strategic advisor to business and functional leadership, promoting a culture of integrity, accountability, and ethical decision-making while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
The position is responsible for compliance risk management, investigations, policy governance, training, monitoring, and regulatory compliance activities throughout the region. The role partners closely with Legal, Human Resources, Finance, Internal Audit, Operations, Supply Chain, and Commercial leadership to identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Business Partnership
• Global accountability for the corporate Ethics and Compliance program, with direct responsibility for the NAM and LATAM programs, and supported by the EMEA/APAC E&C Leader.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to executive and business leadership on ethics, compliance, and regulatory matters.
• Promote a culture of integrity, accountability, and ethical business conduct.
• Partner with key stakeholders to embed compliance considerations into business operations and strategic initiatives.
Risk Management & Compliance Program Oversight
• Lead regional compliance risk assessments, monitoring, and testing activities to identify emerging risks and evaluate control effectiveness.
• Oversee compliance programs related to anti-bribery, anti-corruption, third-party risk management, and other regulatory obligations.
• Develop and maintain ethics and compliance policies, procedures, standards, training, and communications.
• Monitor regulatory developments and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies and controls.
• Support compliance due diligence and integration activities related to mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic business initiatives.
Investigations & Ethics
• Oversee ethics and compliance investigations, reporting channels, and remediation activities, ensuring timely resolution and appropriate escalation.
• Promote the effectiveness of hotline and speak-up programs and reinforce a strong culture of non-retaliation.
• Ensure significant compliance matters are appropriately reported to leadership and addressed through corrective actions.
Governance & Reporting
• Prepare and present compliance program updates, risk assessments, investigation trends, and key performance metrics to senior leadership.
• Support governance activities, including executive, Audit Committee, and Board reporting as required.
• Partner with Legal, HR, Finance, Internal Audit, Supply Chain, and Commercial leadership to continuously strengthen the effectiveness of the compliance program.
People Leadership
• Provide direct oversight the EMEA/APAC Ethics & Compliance leader.
• Foster collaboration and consistency across regional compliance teams.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in ethics, compliance, legal, audit, investigations, or risk management roles.
• Demonstrated experience leading multinational compliance programs and partnering with senior leadership.
• Strong knowledge of anti-corruption, investigations, compliance governance, and risk management frameworks.
• Professional certifications such as CCEP, CCEP-I, CIA, CRCM, or equivalent preferred.
